Put a short note in a QR code
A text QR code is useful for a label, equipment instruction or a short message that should travel with the image. The text is stored in the code itself; there is no hosted text page to maintain.
Spaces, line breaks and Unicode characters are preserved. The scanner decides how to display the result. For a code whose main purpose is to open a website, use the URL tool instead.
How to convert text into a QR code
- Type or paste the note, keeping it as short as practical.
- Check the preview and download PNG or SVG.
- Scan the saved image and compare the decoded text, including line breaks and special characters.
Choose an image format for your note
PNG provides a 512 × 512 image for ordinary sharing and documents. SVG is useful when you need to resize a printed label. Both contain the same text and can be decoded by anyone who has the image.
If the text is too long or hard to scan
PixieQR limits encoded content to 1,800 UTF-8 bytes. This is not a character limit: Chinese characters and emoji can use several bytes each. Content beyond the limit is rejected rather than cut off.
More text creates a denser pattern. Shorten the note, keep the light border, avoid cropping and test the actual printed size with a phone.
